Big congrats, Trent.  A great experience breeding your first batch of anything, so well done.  Sounds like you'll have a lot of mouths ready for a first feed.

Cheers,
Simon

PS:  I agree with Stencorp.  If you just rely on beginners luck you'll end up with zip.  You did everything right, and got the desired result.   :)

Cheers Simon  :)
I'm really excited about it all. Waiting for their first sheds then I will have a crack at feeding. They are so cute when they try to bite me,  their teeth aren't long enough to pierce the skin, but they have fiesty little defensive attitudes.

I am so happy!!!! I candled my two remianing eggs yesterday........All of the othre eggs went brown and looked terrible! I had to throw them away. I was devestated!
I was about to throw away the last two eggs when I say movement in one when I candled it.
It was 59 days yesterday and I decided I would pip it today if it didn't come out on its own.
I went to check on Mum just then and low and behold, I saw a tiny little head resting with Mum!!!!!!
I am stoked! I am just glad to have ONE from the whole batch considering my humidity was shot and my temp was really difficult to maintain.
I am not sure I would maternally incubate again, but I am happy to have this little one.
I will get some photos soon.
I think I might need to keep this little one. I can't bare to part with him. He really was a fighter! Might call this one Rocky!!!!

That's such great news CC  ;D
I'm so happy for you! What a fantastic feeling to see that little head. After all that stress you deserved at least one from that clutch. I look forward to seeing some pictures soon :) again well done and what a crazy ride it's been for you!

I have kept the photo's of the eggs when they went bad. It was heart breaking to see.
I am so thrilled, but too scared to disturb them too (Mum and bub) much just yet. I will wait a day or so before I take photos.
Still not sure about the second egg at this stage.

I pipped the last egg, and found it really full of fluid. I found a fully formed python inside that had apprently drowned. I was very dissapointed.
I put the egg aside with the intention of disposing of it after I went down town.
When I got home I decided I would fish its little head out to see how far it had formed, expecting that it had probably died about a week ago as I had not seen any movement when I candled them all week.
Would you believe........the damned thing lifted its head briefly and flicked its little toungue at me!!!!!
I am amazed!!!!!!
If you saw the state of those eggs a few weeks ago you would have died!
Thank you Bloomy for encouraging me to not give up on them!!!!! I very nearly binned the lot!!!
Mummy just smashed back a rat!!! Yay!!!

Well done CC, never say die. That must have been a long 59 days, it can only get easier.

Well done, CC, and yes, I agree, get the young one out immediately.  You don't want Mum inadvertently squashing it!

I am afraid I got these messages to remove the young from Mum while I was at work.
I am devastated to say by the time I got home and checked on them, mum had rolled on top of one and smothered it. It was dead. The other one has been placed into its own tub.
Out of 17 fertile eggs I am left with one baby.
It is definately a keeper. I wanted to name it Rocky as it is a fighter but my daughter calls it Wiggly. Whatever it's name I will be keeping it.
Major lesson learned.
No more maternal incubation.
I am shattered.

The good news is you got one though. Still sad, but I'm glad you came out with one  :)
My second clutch started hatching tonight. The ones in the foam box with the heat cord on the lid, Id recommend this method for cost and how easy it was. Here is one of them coming out.

I'd like to see a picture of Rocky Wiggly too! :)

The tub that they were incubated in. You can see a lot of the heads popped back in when I disturbed them. Seems like they all hatched in this tub. I cut the one on the end open and he is alive. I was worried about that one as it was a bad looking egg.  I'm still waiting on the rest in the other incubator to hatch....

Hey CC,

Sorry to hear about the hatchy. At least you got one out of them.
There is always next breeding season, and you will also have some Womas to deal with!
Best of luck with Rocky Wiggly, hope you get him eating soon.
