so much whinging on these forums. They are trying to ensure the snakes go to a good home and thats their way of trying to do that. They own the snakes so they have the right to do what they want. Considering the cheap price of them I think its a responsible decision to try and ensure they are adequately prepared and havent rushed into the purchase.

I am still haggling with different people at the moment to get an enclosure for the right price haha

I don't think it's whinging. Most people should have their shit together if they are buying a cat 4 animal. Niall who raised the question has more species off the keepers list than most people on this forum and has bought and transfered more than his fair share too. If he is questioning it, then it's because it's a bit over the top.
But I see your point, they dont want their animals going in tubs or some cheap arsed enclosure cause owners arent willing to build or pay for something reasonable  ;)

Pet stock Balcatta are no longer selling reptiles and their display enclosures are for sale with what ever is in them (hide, water bowl, heat cord). Nice lil black enclosures. Probably only big enough for a single stimi or some gex. They told my friend $150, but when I went to check em out they told me $170. I dont doubt you could haggle and get two for $300 though.

It's interesting how many people are wanting to buy a woma with never having seen it. Is it just a case of its cheap and any woma will do? Do all woma's look the same to some people? Or does ARC have a reputation for nice looking woma's? Or has the price been an issue in the past to obtaining a woma?
I guess all pythons are beautiful, I've never seen one that wasnt in it's own way. But I'd rather pay twice as much for a cracker animal that you are excited to have for the next 20 odd years though.

For me it's all about price, the animals look is for the most part inconsequential. After all a snake doesn't know what it looks like.
Thats not to say I don't find some snakes more visually appealing than others it's just not a priority when finding animals.
If I was in the market for a Woma I would happily buy these with out seeing the animal first based on reputation and price

Not even whinging, just questioning and seeing if anyone has had the same thing told to them.
I just find it odd that she tells people that Woma's need UV when they don't even supply it to any of their Woma on display and  on the ones in their breeding room.

I think Niall is trying to state that they asked for UV, I can understand them asking to look at the cage and wanting to know all the heating and that, but several care sheets state the lack of need for UV for pythons. Hence the reason for Niall asking if anyone else has been asked to have UV for their pythons.

For me, being only in high school, price is the key component when looking for stuff. Having always wanted a Woma, seeing prices like this pop up is perfect timing (early birthday present).
I'm sure most would agree, an "ugly" python that's placid and never stricken is far better than an aggressive "good-looking" python.

Re the uv question, I brought my womas from Armadale about a year ago and the care sheet i was given had uv as a requirement on it. (mine get none fromm lights only outside time) I was asked about the encosure they where going into .
They where my 3rd purchase from Armadale and ive always lliked buying from them as i think they like there animals more than money and are always happy to help answer all my questions!

I'm not sure what the motivation is for ARC request that the animals need UV, but given the knowledge bank at the centre you can't dismiss it without asking the question as why they make the request.

Whats wrong with tubs?
Some top breeders around the world use tubs.
Either way if you supply the necessary heat they will be fine.
I have two womas in plastic tubs for the last three years they eat, shit and drink and are fine.

You don't need UV for a Woma python, simple.
If they choose to make that a condition of a cheap sale, so what, it certainly won't harm the reptile either.
To assume a sick Woma became sick because it lacked exposure to UV is naively assuming too much.

Make sure your enclosure has a good gradient and reliable thermostat I would have thought a 100 watt more than sufficient to get temps around 40.

I lifted the basking rocks with some bricks higher and the basking spot is now varying from 36-42, colder when I open the glass, hate winter!
The cooler side of the tank is also varyin from about 20-24. Is that too cold?
