As interesting as it would be to see DEC up on murder charges, i doubt that is what transpired...

All siezures are used against the hobby for some reason. So I guess it's bad news for us good news for conservation?
One of the responses from the minister was that DEC's tight control and )including not adding animals to the list) has helped reduce poaching.

If anything it will increase poaching not having them on. If they were on the list the licenced takers can take them legally, DEC get their royaly, they get shipped leagally and we have the opportunity to own them too. But everyone knows that except for the people who make that decision?!

I reckon whoever it was would have needed a change of underwear after being apprehended by a squad of gun toting lads in uniform. I can just imagine it... “Stop! Stay where you are!” Looks up and is seeing straight down the barrel of an M-14 or three. If the person was seated at the time I reckon they would have needed a crowbar to break the suction to let them stand up. You sure as hell wouldn’t think about making a run for it. The only thing that would be running would be yellow liquid down the leg.

I'm not too sure what powers the reserves have in regards to detaining people they suspect to be breaking the law. I don't think they would have been able to subdue the person if they tried to leave so it will be interesting to hear the full story of what went on out there and if the person/s was in fact detained, brought back to town and charged.

The reality is that I believe they have no powers to do so. The individual concerned could have told them to jam it and walked away. At best the reservist could have taken car details and that is probably it. However, the point I was making in a "silly manner" was they likely bluffed the individual into accompanying them back to town.

Everybody has power of arrest, however reasonable force, unlawful detention etc come into play if you get it wrong

Any updates on the "bust" - name of person apprehended, or what critters they had?
All the best
