It is people's emotive reactions the thread's originator is after. What other point is there to a thread with that title and opening comments?

Any negative reaction, comment or argument provides what is being sought. I would suggest that irrespective of the joy you get out of it... 'Please don't feed the bears' is ultimately the wisest thing to do (or perhaps that should be NOT to do?).

To delete this person’s account just because many people don’t like him or his thread subjects would be unfair and I am not sure he has crossed the line by being offensive to that point quite yet.
I try to keep rules and moderation to the absolute minimum which I like to think makes this forum a bit unique and I really dislike another well known reptile forum for their opposite approach in that regard. I realize that there may be a cost that comes with my approach but I guess it’s a matter of striking a balance between limited moderation and worthwhile substance and of course we will undoubtedly at times get it wrong.
Andrews Henderson’s approach is probably the best at this stage but if enough people or Blue-tongues ( the other moderator whose opinion I respect) want the blokes account gone, I would reluctantly go along with it.
At worst I think maybe the thread could go but again, only if enough people desired such.

I agree with Dave and see absolutely no valid reasons to date for removing the account.  The person concerned is entitled to his viewpoints and opinions and to express them on this forum.  Removal of an account is only warranted under exceptional circumstances.  For example, where an individual sets out repeatedly to target and antagonise other individuals to the point where they become genuinely upset.  Or where an individual repeatedly ignores personal warnings of any nature from the moderation team, after being clearly made aware of the consequences. 


The forum does not operate for those we like to the exclusion of those we don’t.  Nor does it attempt to squash controversy.  So long as the issues are dealt with appropriately, then go for it.  However, when it starts to become nasty and personal, that is no longer appropriate. This was the rationale behind my Moderator’s post earlier.  I did not point the finger at anyone nor did I threaten to remove the thread.  I said that if it were to continue in the same vein then it would be locked and that it may be removed as a result.  The latter judgement would be based on an evaluation of the content as a whole.

I also deleted my prior personal comments in order that I might exercise a more objective viewpoint.
